Taste an explosion of fruit with this Honey type coffee, from small coffee producers in Costa Rica. Discover a sweet and jammy profile with notes of fruit compote, caramel and hazelnut.

The term « Honey » refers to the sticky, sugar-rich layer covering the coffee bean. During this process, a pulping machine removes the outer skin of the bean and part of the fruit from the cherries. Depending on the amount of fruit removed, the beans can be called Yellow, White, Black, Gold or Red Honey. The coffee cherry is then reduced to a pulp then dried with the sticky-sweet layer (Honey) on the parchment from 18 to 25 days.

Oscar and Francisca Chacón are third generation coffee growers. But coffee is much more than a family legacy, for them, it is their very heart and soul. The couple is committed to quality and innovation and are part of the very first growers in Costa Rica to produce a Honey type specialty coffee through natural process.

In 2005, after years of offering their cherries to a cooperative at market prices, they decided to join the brand new “micro mill revolution” and buy their very own pulper, to have more control on the quality of their product and the price they could get for it. These experiments became some of the most exciting new flavour profiles we’ve ever tasted: Now, the Chacóns produce a great variety of Honey coffees, modulating the drying time to create a rainbow of different tastes.
