To all the lovers out there!
St-Valentine’s day is once again upon us and, just like previous years, we decided to bring back our very popular promotion: 10% more love! Love meaning coffee, of course 😉
But first, a little history…
The origin of this special day remains a mystery, just like love. However, there is no less than 7 saints named Valentin, including Valentinus. In the Catholic calendar, since each day is devoted to a specific saint, patron of their own unique cause, the Church named St-Valentine as the patron saint of the betrothed. With time, St-Valentine’s day became a celebration of love in all it’s forms, a special day to cherish the ones we love, from our soul mates to our beloved family and friends.
Speaking of saints, did you know that we may one day have a patron saint for our favourite drink? He would be named Marco D’Aviano, member of the Capuchin Order. Legend tells of a Christian victory over the Ottomans, and how bags of coffee were left behind by deserters. Finding the drink too bitter, Marco decided to add milk and honey, giving birth to the Cappuccino, named in his honour and for the fact that the coffee’s colour was the same as the Capuchin’s robes. Since he has already been beatified, the Pope would just need to canonize this future saint for services rendered to coffee lovers the world over! Another good reason for us to celebrate St-Valentin’s day with you 😉
So, from Wednesday February 11th to Saturday February 14th midnight, our bags are getting bigger with 10% more coffee! 227gr becomes 250gr, 454gr (1lb) becomes 500gr… you get the picture! (Teas are not included in this promotion). You may also try some of our suggestions for your favourite drink.
