I truly appreciated your comments on my first post. They were all pertinent and encouraging. As a follow-up, here are a few easy home recipes (some of which I tested myself) to make your life a little easier. They are all affordable and eco-friendly.
For starters, what about an anti-cellulite cream made with coffee grounds that you can prepare and use in the comfort of your own home? Just like a home Spa! Nothing easier or cheaper. Coffee grounds can be very useful in skin care because of the caffeine it contains. It acts against cellulite by performing tissue drainage and decongestion.
For the anti-cellulite treatment, mix in 1/4 of a cup of warm coffee grounds with 1 table spoon of olive oil. Just lay on an old towel and scrub the parts of your skin affected by « orange peel » with this mix. Then wrap that zone with a plastic wrap and wait few minutes. Lastly, remove the plastic wrap and rinse in the shower with warm water. For best results, repeat twice a week.
Coffee grounds also seem to be effective against dark circles under our eyes (Best Treatments For Dark Circles Under Eyes Are Now Revealed!) and even against wrinkles. In this case, beat an egg white to which you will have added 1 coffee spoon of coffee grounds. Apply to affected area and relax. You can also mix in coffee grounds with your favorite shower gel to exfoliate or use it on its own for the same purpose. Why not mix sugar, honey, oil and coffee grounds for a sweet scented peeling?
Having problems with corn and calluses on your heels and feet? Use coffee grounds! Simply rub them with coffee grounds while you take your shower 2 to 3 times a week before washing your feet with your regular soap or gel. No rasp, no pumice, no cream and all you will have used is your leftover coffee grounds. You will see the difference!
While doing my research I came across a recipe that apparently works very well. According to its author, even the most hairy person can have baby skin! All you have to do is mix 2 teaspoons of coffee grounds, 2 teaspoons of plain yogurt and 2 teaspoons of honey. Apply to rough areas like elbows, heels or any other rough spots. Have chapped and dry lips? Lightly massage your lips with coffee grounds, rinse then apply lip balm. Your lips will give the best kisses in the world… ;).
Your pet can also get its « Eco-Royal » treatment! Use some coffee grounds to gently rub your dog’s hair and skin during its bath and it will act as a repellent for fleas. Make sure that the grounds come in direct contact with the dog’s skin under the hair. Fleas will not survive this new « shampoo » and your dog’s hair will be all that much softer!
In my next post, I will share some tricks to combat bad odors…
Don’t forget that your comments are always welcome and we thank you for sharing them with us ! 🙂
